12. Tour of the Resia Lake

On July 30th 2011 one of the most important track events in Northern Italy will take place in South, Tyrol, precisely around the Resia lake. The 12th Tour of the Resia Lake takes place directly on the lake shores and it’s divided into three disciplines: running, biking and Nordic Walking. The path is 15,3km long. A track event for children will also take place!
This track event is international and many athletes coming from more than 20 nations will take place in this event. The race is organized by the “Rennerclub Val Venosta”, to which belong more than 500 voluntaries.
The Resia lake is symbolized by the bell tower coming out of the water. Every participant will receive a T-shirt and a present; after the track event, a great tent party will take place!

Wine Feast in Bolzano: Tirolensis Ars Vini

On May 28th, 2011 Bolzano hosts a very important event about wines in Italy: the 15th edition of the “Wine Party” of the “Tirolensis Ars Vini” (TAV) from 11am till 11pm. This event about Italian gastronomy will take place at the Thurnhof estate in Bolzano/ Aslago, Via Castel Flavon 7.
This is the program of this event in Bolzano: wine tasting classes organized by famous South Tyrol wine producers, who will also present their newest wines; South Tyrolean traditional dishes, music thanks to the “Dodiciville” band and the jazz quartet “Pekato”.

The wine producers who will present their wines at the Wine Feast in Bolzano are: A. Berger - Thurnhof, J. Mayr - Unterganznerhof, Loacker Schwarhof, A. Menz - Popphof, G. Mumelter - Griesbauerhof, F. Pfeil - Ansitz Kränzel, U. Piccolruaz - Laimburg, H. Pohl – Marinushof.

Val Martello, the berries valley !

Val Martello is a Val Venosta secondary valley, located in the western part of South Tyrol. Val Martello is famous thank its farms in Italy, its uncontaminated landscape, because it’s included in the Stelvio National Park, and as a destination for quiet winter or summer holidays in Italy.
Apart being the ideal Italy holidays destination for nature fans, Val Martello is famous also thanks to its berries ; they mature at a height of 1800 meters and this fact gives them an inimitable taste !
The queen of berries is the strawberry, feasted thanks to huge gastronomic event taking place in Val Martello on June 25th and 26th, during which the biggest strawberry tart in the world will be cut, with music, many initiatives for children and a South Tyrolean typical market !

Südtirol Jazz festival 2011 in South Tyrol

Music fans can book their Italy summer vacations in South Tyrol, as this year the 29th edition of the “South Tyrol Jazz Festival” will take place here. From June 24th till July 3rd, many jazz concerts will take place not just in Bolzano, South Tyrol most important city, but even in other cities like Brunico, Bressanone, Merano and Vipiteno.
Many concerts are free…and during these concerts it’s possible to see internationally famous artists playing in public places, streets, medieval castles, farms, hotels in South Tyrol, Italy restaurants, theaters, in the Renon train and in some firms as well!

Other events taking place during the “South Tyrol Jazz Festival” are: “Jazz & Wine”, Jazz on the Mountains”, Jazz & Banking by Cassa di Risparmio/Sparkasse”, and other original music events called “Jazz Train” and “Jazz Boat”. Jazz fans can’t miss this event, combining holidays in Italy with good music!

Asparaguses and wine in South Tyrol

South Tyrol hosts in the Italy mountain resorts of Terlano, Vilpiano and Settequerce the “Asparaguses Week” between April and May.
From April 4th till May 31st, the aforementioned mountain resort will turn into a true Eldorado for the fans of Italian gastronomy. In this occasion, you can taste many disse based on asparaguses: first courses, main courses, side orders, and so on.
Moreover, these South Tyrolean dishes will be accompanied by many kinds of fresh Italian wines, such as the “Terlaner”, the local white wine, which is very suitable for vegetables and fish.

Alpine Ötzi Marathon in Val Senales

On April 30th 2011 the eighth edition of the “Alpine Ötzi Marathon” will take place in Val Senales; it will take place on Saturday. In case of bad weather, the race will be shifted to May 1st. 

If you are athletics fans, don’t miss this even and book a hotel SouthTyrol in Val Senales or in Merano and surroundings.
This race is very challenging and it includes: a mountain bike race, whose track is 24,2 km long, a foot race, whose track is 11,8km and the ski race, whose track is 6,2 km long.

The starting point is in the mountain resort of Naturno and the finishing line is in Val Senales, where “Ötzi”, the “Ice Man”, was found. Teams can enroll till April 19th, 2011.

Moreover, in Val Senales it’s possible to ski in Italy even in summer!

Ski holidays South Tyrol
